Thanks so much for your question and for your obvious concern for your lost friend. I have a few questions that may help you decide what is best in this situation.
1. Do your parents know this friend or is this friendship secret?
2. You mentioned your friend is involved in some questionable activities (smoking, drinking, violent music). Is this something you are wanting to become involved in?
3. Does your friend respect you and have your best interest in mind in your relationship?
The Bible gives us some very clear words about our relationships with unbelievers. On the one hand we are commanded to be "salt and light" to the earth. It also says, however, that "bad company corrupts good character."
I would encourage you to use caution as you develop this relationship. Keep it public and make sure your parents know this boy. If he really is drinking and smoking at 14, he is breaking the law and may even encourage you to do the same. Keep praying for him and inviting him to church. Be honest with him about your relationship with God. It will be your friend's choice whether or not to accept Christ.
I hope this helps.
Blessings to you!
