A group of 12 have been doing a weekend evengelism on the streets of our community and we are running into parents not trusting the leadership capabilities.

I am in need of some info on evangelism? I am a youth leader in a small pentacostal church. A group of 12 have been doing a weekend evengelism on the streets of our community and we are running into parents not trusting the leadership capabilities. So am in need of ideas in which I can assure safety and trust. Please reply with any other ideas, by the way this is our first time to set out and do this sort of evangelism!

It could be that your parents might not be as enthusiastic because they have not seen or heard of how you are planning to "do" your evangelism outreach events. So, this is what I would do...call a parent's meeting or mail a "parent's newsletter update" to each family. Tell them what you are going to do...why you are doing it...how you are going to do it...and how it will benefit the Christian growth and development of their students. You might actually want to consider actually using an Evangelism Curriculum over a few weeks in Sunday School or at student ministry meetings and publicize the fact that the students are receiving some biblical encouragement and training. Some good material to check out:

Becoming a Contagious Christian (there are several versions of this book, look for the student edition)

Mission and Service Projects by HomeWord

Both resources will give you and your students some good teaching and "fuel" to talk to the parents.

Blessings to you!
