The question you are asking is one of surrender. you are looking to see how it is that you fully surrender your life to Christ. It's a great question... and a great opportunity for you to share who God is and what a relationship with Him is all about.
Being a Christian is all about surrender. You cannot have Jesus be your Savior without Him being your Lord (literally the ruler of your life). God created us, and as our Creator He knows what is best for our lives. When we come to Christ, we are called to surrender our lives and "die to self," meaning that we allow God to be in charge and follow His lead and leading in our lives. As we follow Him more closely, areas of our lives will surface that are contrary to God's character and attributes. We are faced with a problem. Do we continue in those ways, or do we choose to confess, surrender, and repent (move in a new direction)? God calls us to surrender and die to self (our will and desire to control our lives and call all the shots).
