Real Life Answers

I am interested in beginning a ministry at my church for families of teens.

Question:

I am interested in beginning a ministry at my church for families of teens to work together to do a variety of mission projects. Currently we offer a family mission trip to an orphanage in Tijuana, but would also like to begin something for parents and teens to serve together in more a variety of ways. Do you have any literature on how to get a program like this going? We are also interested in incoorporating a devotional/ Bible study for teens and parents to do together. Most of the family devotionals I have looked at seem too little kid like for teens. Thank you for any information you can pass along.

Answer:

You are on the right track! Praise God! Your heart for student ministry in the context of the family will be blessed indeed. Check out the book Partnering with Parents. It is loaded with great ideas for family-based youth ministry. Keep on the path that God is leading you!
