Question:
My Sunday school teacher is a bad influence to the kids in my class. Sometimes he says bad words in the class, and his stories aren't very pleasant. I am afraid to bring any unsaved friends to Sunday school because I'm afraid that he'll say something bad, and I don't want my unsaved friend to think that's how Christians are supposed to act. Our church has to keep him as the Sunday school teacher because he's the only one who volunteers to be the teacher. What can I do? Do I stay in the class or do I go to the high school class or do I not go at all?Answer:
Thank you so much for your question. You show great maturity. You need to talk to your youth pastor or the senior pastor of your church about this issue right away. I would encourage you not to make this a personal issue, but simply one where you state clearly your concern for the atmosphere, language, illustrations, and other concerns you have about the class. Most pastors are very passionate about what is happening on Sunday morning especially when it comes to kids bringing unsaved friends. Most pastors would be doing "handstands of praise" to God for that type of evangelical heart in the life of a young person. Share with your pastor or youth pastor how you feel. That issue is a church leadership call, but do it as soon as possible. Please don't get discouraged. God bless you!
